The end of the League One season is now just days away with Wrexham heading to face Lincoln City this weekend.

Wrexham fans no doubt feel a sense of relief as much as jubilation after seeing another promotion.

Wrexham beat Charlton Athletic 3-0 on Saturday evening, securing a place in the Championship for next season.

That is three promotions in a row for Wrexham as Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds continue to bring enormous success to the STōK Cae Ras.

There will be no nail-biting on the final day of the season as Wrexham head to face Lincoln City.

Promotion is in the bag and the end of the season brings recognition for the top performers in League One.

Former Wrexham ace Davis Keillor-Dunn named in League One Team of the Season

The League One Team of the Season was released earlier this week with two Wrexham stars included.

Max Cleworth and Ryan Barnett were named in the Team of the Season, but Arthur Okonkwo and Ollie Rathbone missed out.

Three Birmingham City stars featured as they celebrate winning the League One title, but one name in the attack will have been very familiar to Wrexham fans.

Barnsley’s Davis Keillor-Dunn landed a spot in the three-man frontline alongside Wycombe Wanderers’ Richard Kone and Peterborough United’s Kwame Poku.

Keillor-Dunn briefly turned out for Wrexham in 2020, joining from Ross County before heading to Oldham Athletic after just six appearances.

Now 27, Keillor-Dunn has developed his game brilliantly and is now one of the most dangerous attackers in League One.

Only four players – Kone, Birmigham’s Jay Stansfield, Leyton Orient’s Charlie Kelman and Wrexham star Sam Smith – have scored more League One goals than Keillor-Dunn.

The Barnsley ace has even added seven assists and earned his place in the Team of the Season despite the Tykes being stuck in mid-table.

Keillor-Dunn even scored against Wrexham on New Year’s Day, returning to haunt his former side in a 2-1 victory.

Not only has Keillor-Dunn been named in the League One Team of the Season, but he has also won two awards at Barnsley – Player’s Player of the Year and Men’s Player of the Year.

That just goes to show how far Keillor-Dunn has come in the last five years, continuously taking his game to a new level.

Keillor-Dunn going from strength to strength

Wrexham fans were only able to catch a glimpse of Keillor-Dunn, and his six games won’t live all that long in the memory.

Ever since leaving Wrexham, Keillor-Dunn has gone from strength to strength, with this Team of the Season inclusion a new high in his career.

Keillor-Dunn smashed 25 goals in 87 games for Oldham Athletic, earning himself a move to League One with Burton Albion in 2022.

Despite five goals in 19 games, Keillor-Dunn dropped back to League Two with Mansfield Town – and the goals were flying in.

28 goals in 68 games made Keillor-Dunn a hero at Mansfield, and he was a constant menace in League Two as both Wrexham and Mansfield secured promotion last season.

Barnsley forked out £700,000 for Keillor-Dunn, and he has lived up to the price tag with a fine season in League One.

Few would be surprised to see Keillor-Dunn continue this ascent with a Championship move this summer.

Maybe Wrexham will have him on the radar for a return, but his rise is a great case of how some players just need some time and patience to really maximise their potential.
