Wrexham are preparing for their first Championship home fixture of the season, but Kieffer Moore is a doubt for the clash.

Wrexham lost to Southampton in their first game back in the second tier of English football for over forty years last weekend.

The Red Dragons got back to winning ways in midweek, however, when they bested Hull City in the Carabao Cup.

Attention has now turned toward Wrexham vs West Brom, which will take place on Saturday at 12:30pm BST.

Ahead of the tie, summer signing Kieffer Moore is suffering with an injury problem.

Kieffer Moore injury update before Wrexham vs West Brom

Wrexham signed the experienced forward from Sheffield United earlier this month.

Moore impressed on his debut against Southampton, with it clear Phil Parkinson wanted to focus the majority of their attacking play around the centre-forward.

However, he was forced off in the second half of the defeat, and an update on his injury has now been shared.

Nathan Salt has said Wrexham are set to assess Moore on Thursday or Friday once the swelling around his ankle goes down.

He said on the Rob Ryan Red podcast: “The club’s plan is to assess Kieffer Moore on Thursday or Friday, depending on when the swelling on his ankle comes down.

“So I’ve been sent loads of things like slow-mos of the foot and the bend. Let’s just wait and see. The club are reserving all caution and judgment and worry until the ankle, once the swelling and inflammation comes down, it might actually be more of an impact injury, and the ligaments haven’t been ripped apart or whatever.

“We can only keep our fingers crossed that it’s not as bad. Who knows? If it’s not too bad, if the swelling has come down on Friday, he could be in the squad for say Sheffield Wednesday in a week in a bit’s time.”

Who will start up front for Wrexham vs West Brom

With Moore injured, Parkinson will need to find a new partner for Josh Windass in his front two.

Ryan Hardie came off the bench against Southampton and missed a big chance to make it 2-0.

Sam Smith is another option, but he has not had many minutes in the last couple of months.

Elsewhere, Ollie Palmer could feature after he scored twice in midweek against Hull City.

With Steven Fletcher gone, Palmer is the most natural ‘big man’ replacement left in the squad for Moore, but it remains to be seen if Parkinson wants to start him in the league just a week after telling the attacker he wasn’t needed.
