Wrexham managed to bring in two players on deadline day, and one of their new arrivals has expressed his delight that a move managed to materialise.

Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo joined on loan from Arsenal, and midfielder George Evans arrived on a free transfer from Millwall, in a dramatic end to the transfer window.

Evans, 28, joins with plenty of EFL experience under his belt, and has now admitted that he was buzzing about the opportunity to join Wrexham.

Speaking to The Leader, the midfielder claimed that once he heard about the chance to sign for Wrexham, he was dead set on the move.

“I am really excited to get going and get in the thick of it,” he stated.

“Last season was a bit frustrating for me in terms of game time, this came up and I thought it was a great opportunity for me. I didn’t want to turn it down.

“As soon as I heard about it, it was something that I wanted to get done.

“It is an exciting project to be a part of and it is something that I am really looking forward to.

“Obviously I want to play football but where I see the club going, it is a really exciting move.”

Another coup for Wrexham

Evans came off the bench in the win against Tranmere Rovers the day after he signed, helping Phil Parkinson’s side keep a clean sheet on the road, and the midfielder looks set to make a big impact at the club.

Joining on a two-year deal, he brings a wealth of experience, having played for Millwall, Reading, Derby County, Crewe Alexandra and others, having come through the academy at Manchester City.

With nearly 150 Championship appearances to his name, Evans is looking to get his career back on track after a difficult spell to end his time with Millwall, and he is now hoping that playing for Wrexham in League Two can help him rediscover his best form.
