Lee Trundle has now revealed that Shaun Harvey has impressed him during his time at Wrexham.

Shaun Harvey has been at the heart of everything since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over at Wrexham.

The former managing director of the EFL was appointed as an advisor to the board once the Hollywood duo confirmed their purchase of the Reds and is now a Director of the Football Club.

He assumed this position in December 2023, a decision that was met with controversy from some of the footballing world.

During his time at Leeds United from 2004 to 2013, the club were plunged into administration twice before he became the EFL’s chief executive.

Of course, having a previous history of mismanaging a clubs finances wasn’t going to bode well, but Kieran Maguire revealed previously that he passed the owner and director test to take on his new role at Wrexham.

Harvey’s impact on and off the pitch, as seen in the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary, rewarded him with a place on the board of directors.

Lee Trundle has since praised him for doing the work that often goes unnoticed.

Lee Trundle believes Shaun Harvey is a ‘massive asset’ to Wrexham

Harvey was initially brought into Wrexham to be that link between the American owners and the football club.

Given they spend a lot of time in the US, they needed someone to come and oversee the day-to-day running of the club, entrusting the 54-year-old with that position.

Despite facing criticism in his previous roles, he has done a brilliant job at the Racecourse Ground, and such success off the field has brought success on it.

Speaking on the Fearless In Devotion podcast, former Wrexham striker Trundle has been impressed with the impact Harvey has made.

He said: “He was someone who I was impressed with. You know the way he was speaking about the football club, the vision that he had because when he first come in it was only for him coming in to settle the ship a bit, let’s get in and see how things go and then ends up carrying on and staying.

“The work he puts in behind the scenes you know is brilliant. He’s a massive asset to the club especially when you have your owners who live in a different country as well. I think it’s brilliant for the football club to have someone like Shaun who is in there day in day out and overseeing the organisation of the football club.”

Harvey has played a prominent role in the rise of Wrexham, and his work behind the scenes has helped transform the football club.

As a result, he is receiving the praise that he truly deserves and we’re sure he’ll make huge contributions to the Welsh side moving forward.
