Paul Mullin features for Wigan Athletic vs Wycombe Wanderers
The 2024/25 season saw Wrexham battling it out to secure a third promotion in a row.
Birmingham City dominated League One and took the title with ease, earning an EFL record 111 points.
The battle for the second and final automatic promotion place was, for much of last season, a hotly contested battle between Wrexham and Wycombe Wanderers.
In the end, it was Phil Parkinson’s side who came out on top, securing second spot after a 3-0 win over another team who were making a late charge for promotion in Charlton Athletic.
As for Wycombe, they finished fifth and lost to eventual winners, Charlton, in the play-off final.
The Chairboys were once again expected to vie for promotion this term, but like Mullin’s Wigan, they have struggled.
Wycombe kicked off the day in 20th place, while the Latics were 14th and had won just one in five.
Mullin was injured recently and did not start their clash against Cardiff City last weekend.
He was in from the off on Saturday when Wigan hosted Wycombe, but the striker struggled to have any meaningful impact before being booked after just 45 minutes.

Paul Mullin stats for Wigan Athletic vs Wycombe Wanderers
Wycombe took the lead via Sam Bell after 35 minutes, while another poor half of football prompted changes from Ryan Lowe at the break.
Mullin was one of three players axed, and in his time on the pitch, he did little of note.

Wigan will return to action on Saturday, October 18, taking on Port Vale in a 3pm kick-off.
Mullin could come up against another Wrexham loanee in Modou Faal during the clash.
