Wrexham will reignite their rivalry with Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup later this month.
The Red Dragons and the Bluebirds have not gone head-to-head for many years.
Wrexham’s 15-year spell in the National League and Cardiff City’s brief stint in the Premier League meant barring cup competitions, there has been no chance for the two Welsh heavyweights to clash.
2025/26 looked to be the season when the duo would finally be competing in the same league.
However, as Phil Parkinson’s side won League One promotion, Cardiff were relegated from the Championship.
But Wrexham will meet their rivals in the Carabao Cup later this month, and we have taken a look back at how one player fared when he joined the North Wales outfit on loan from their rivals.

Wrexham once signed an ‘exciting’ talent from Cardiff City
In 2019, Wrexham were still stuck in the fifth tier and had yet to be taken over by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.
It meant finances were low and transfers were largely limited to loans and free-agent additions.
On that front, Wrexham signed Cardiff winger Mark Harris on loan for the 2019/20 campaign.
Manager Bryan Hughes commented on the deal at the time, as per BBC Sport.
He said: “He can play across the front three and he is an exciting talent.
“I’m really pleased he’s decided to join us and a big thank you to Cardiff for letting him come.”
Harris went on to make 25 appearances and score three goals while largely operating as a left-winger and centre-forward.

What happened to Mark Harris after Wrexham spell
Harris left Wrexham in the summer of 2020, linking back up with Cardiff.
He was promoted to their senior side, going on to net 10 and provide two assists in 95 matches.
Cardiff then let the 26-year-old leave on a free transfer to Oxford United in July 2023.
Harris is still competing in the Championship with Oxford, for whom he has scored 25 goals in 111 matches.
Currently, he is one of the most valuable players to leave Wrexham who are still playing.
Transfermarkt says he is worth €800,000, which is €250,000 more than Paul Mullin’s market value.
