Wrexham star Josh Windass has endured a frustrating start to his career in North Wales.

Windass impressed with a goal on his Championship debut during the 2-1 defeat to Southampton before sustaining a hamstring injury on his first appearance at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham have missed his creativity, however, Parkinson is hopeful that Windass will return soon after making good progress in his recovery.

It is a busy month ahead for the Red Dragons with league and cup fixtures coming thick and fast and Windass has revealed the ‘nice’ gesture the club’s owners made after seeing his injury unfold on their last visit.

Josh Windass reveals text messages from Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac following Wrexham injury

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Windass has revealed that owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac sent text messages of support following his injury sustained against West Brom.

The forward joined Wrexham on a free transfer in the summer and has been full of praise for the ‘Hollywood’ duo.

Windass stated: “They’re great guys. They both sent me a little text after I got injured and that, which is a nice touch.

“They’re really personal and you wouldn’t think Ryan Reynolds is Ryan Reynolds when you speak to him, he’s just the nicest guy. They ask about my family and stuff, nothing about football, they’re just genuine fellas.

“They’ve been winning non-stop for three years and now to get here where the next step is the promised land as they say. If I can do that it would be great.

“I’ve been trying to do that in the last few years with Wednesday but obviously it wasn’t to be. I’ve come here and there’s a group that has had so many millions on them to give it a crack, that’s what I’m here for.”

Josh Windass could drop into deeper midfield role for Wrexham upon return from injury

Windass started his Wrexham career playing just off of striker Kieffer Moore, however, the 31-year-old may be in line for a slight change in role upon return from injury.

The arrival of club-record signing Nathan Broadhead means there is competition for the role just in behind Moore, whilst Ryan Hardie impressed in the victory over Millwall.

Windass has the ability to play in a midfield three and could provide his magic spark from deeper on the pitch.

The signing of Ben Sheaf, alongside the energetic Lewis O’Brien would give Wrexham a solid defensive platform for Windass to then have the freedom to roam and make things happen.
