Wrexham owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, as well as Phil Parkinson, have all been praised by one key figure at the club.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds set about making big changes at Wrexham ahead of their first full season as owners.

Rob and Ryan ignored warnings about signing Paul Mullin, making him their marquee transfer of 2021.

That deal proved to be a stroke of genius, with Mullin going on to score over 100 goals as the club climbed out of the National League up to League One.

As well as their 30-year-old number nine, however, McElhenney and Reynolds also brought in Phil Parkinson that summer, replacing Dean Keates in the dugout.

Steve Parkin praises Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney and Phil Parkinson

West Brom wanted Parkinson at the time, but as explained recently by Humphrey Ker, Wrexham used their ‘financial clout’ to secure his services.

When arriving in Wales, the 57-year-old brought Steve Parkin with him to be assistant manager.

Now, Parkin, as per Leader Live, has been discussing Parkinson, as well as praising the ‘magnificent’ Rob and Ryan.

He said: “It’s one that I feel fortunate to have with the long career I’ve had – to get three on the spin is unbelievable.

“I sincerely hope that the manager gets the credit he deserves because sometimes you don’t always get the credit.

“To come to a club that was starting out all over again and to achieve three on the spin is just amazing.

“It’s never been done before and the key thing is where you start from to try and achieve it.

“It’s been done with the help of the owners who have been magnificent, the fans have been great, and all the staff at the club deserve a mention, right from the cleaning ladies up to the manager.

“Everybody’s pulled together, they’re all there for each other. We are a real tight unit, and the players deserve a lot of credit for never ever losing faith in what we could achieve, and it proved that against Charlton.”

Phil Parkinson praises Wrexham assistant manager

The duo have been working together for well over a decade now, with Parkinson also recently having some kind words for his assistant.

He said: “Steve is a great bloke. We’ve become great friends over the years and we work really well together.

“There’s a great deal of trust between us and we’ve come a long way together, not just at Wrexham but over a good few years.

“We have both really enjoyed our time at Wrexham and Steve is great to work with.”

Parkin and Parkinson have worked together at a number of clubs including Sunderland, Bradford City and, of course, Wrexham.
