Wrexham got their 2025-26 season up and running with victory in their opening pre-season clash.
Wrexham beat Melbourne Victory 3-0 in Australia in what was a perfect opportunity for Phil Parkinson to give minutes to his squad.
Parkinson played two teams in each half and goals from Thomas O’Connor and George Evans helped secure victory for the Red Dragons.
Ryan Hardie impressed Wrexham fans with his debut performance but the result may be somewhat overshadowed by a sad departure from the club.

Andy Lowe to leave role as Wrexham academy manager with ‘immediate effect’
Wrexham’s academy manager Andy Lowe is set to leave the club with ‘immediate effect’ for ‘personal reasons.’
Lowe has been at the club since 2023 following his arrival from Hartlepool United and has overseen the development of the young talent at the club.
Wrexham’s academy has been upgraded recently under the stewardship of Lowe and he has helped the likes of Harry Ashfield progress into the first-team.
The club are yet to make an official announcement on his departure but Lowe will leave big shoes to fill after such an excellent performance in his role.
What Andy Lowe said upon his arrival at Wrexham
Upon his appointment in October 2023, Lowe was tasked with building the Wrexham academy upon their return to the Football League.
The recent upgrade to a category three academy shows that he has done what he set out to do during his time in North Wales and leaves the club in a great position of strength.

Speaking to Wrexham’s official website upon his appointment, Lowe stated: “I am delighted and honoured to have been given the opportunity to become Academy Manager at Wrexham AFC and I really look forward to establishing an EFL academy with the Club.
“It has been fantastic to see the positive feel the re-introduction of the academy has brought within the Club in recent weeks. There is a real buzz, and it has been very evident to see in such a short period of time what the club means to so many people.”
