Landlord of The Turf, Wayne Jones has opened up about the impact that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have had on him and Wrexham.
Since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over Wrexham in 2020 things have just got better and better for the club.
Things on the pitch have followed suit under the management of Phil Parkinson with the Reds securing promotion from the National League. On top of that, they now find themselves fighting at the top of League Two in second place.
With that being said, off the pitch, things have become massively different under the Hollywood ownership. Something as simple as the Kop Stand reservation has shown the investment of the co-owners.

The other thing that has changed is the increase in fan base around the world that are showing an interest in Wrexham. Not only the general public but some big names have been seen at The Racecourse and around the club.
What has Wayne Jones said about Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney?
Wayne Jones is a name and face you remember from ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ as he featured quite heavily throughout. He is the landlord of the famous pub, The Turf which ‘historians believe that the establishment, originally known as the “Turf Tavern,” was built sometime between 1840 and 1844.’
It is safe to say that the pub plays a huge part in fans’ matchday routine and has done for a very long time. This has seen it become known on a wider scale in recent years.
Thanks to the documentary and the owners, Jones has welcomed some famous faces into his pub which could only have been dreamed of before.
Discussing that with Men in Blazers, he has opened up about some of the star names that he has now met. On that, he said: “Ryan and Rob were the first, obviously. Naturally, because they bought the club. And then Will Ferrell came in. Cracking guy, really down to earth. He had about five Madri’s in about half an hour!
“My wife is a huge Friends fan so when I told her Paul Rudd was coming… He was very humble, and gave her a lovely hug.”
It is great to hear these kinds of stories and are things that wouldn’t have been possible without McElhenney and Reynolds. The pub has been there forever but it is unlikely to have seen such stars in the past.
With that being said, Jones did make a joke of the celebrity clientele. Discussing that, he added: “Yeah, weird. I mean it’d be better if he came down and did the hoovering or something obviously! He can come and give us a hand anytime.”
It is an exciting time to be a Wrexham fan and this just emphasises that point even further.
