Wrexham have made history after securing three promotions in a row with a victory over Charlton Athletic.
If you could imagine the perfect evening to win promotion, Wrexham’s 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic was pretty much the blueprint.
Wycombe Wanderers lost at Leyton Orient to tee up a huge night at the STōK Cae Ras, with Wrexham facing one simple equation – beat Charlton and secure promotion.
Ollie Rathbone and Sam Smith scored to leave Wrexham 2-0 up and in dreamland during the first half before Smith added a third late on.
As the sun set on Wrexham, fans flooded onto the pitch to celebrate a third straight promotion and even more success under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.
Wrexham fans went off into the night to celebrate, relishing the chance to watch Championship football just years after being stuck in the National League.

Lewis Brunt on Wrexham future
There have been ups and downs across the season, but Wrexham have been worthy of this second-place finish.
Many expected League One to be a tougher task for Wrexham, but Phil Parkinson has masterminded yet another promotion.
The message outside Wrexham is that the Championship will be an enormous step up; the response in Wrexham is ‘bring it on’.
Wrexham continue to make the impossible possible and Rob McElhenney sees more success for Wrexham in the near future.
Defender Lewis Brunt has echoed that message, telling Sky Sports (26/04, 7:30pm) that he thinks the sky is the limit at Wrexham.
Brunt feels that anything can happen under McElhenney and Reynolds – even promotion to the Premier League.
Brunt wants to get the summer out of the way first but clearly has ambitions of going right to the top with Wrexham.
“The sky’s the limit. The sky is the limit, with this club, with the owners, I don’t see why we can’t go the full way. Let’s just get the summer done and we’ll reset then,” said Brunt.
Wrexham changes coming this summer
Brunt undoubtedly knows that Wrexham will make changes this summer.
Wrexham made eight signings last summer in an attempt to add quality after going up from League One.
January brought three more signings, so the natural assumption is that McElhenney and Reynolds will back more spending this summer.
This may also be the time to say goodbye to some colossal players from this rise.
Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin seem primed for emotional departures this summer, having struggled for first-team action in 2025.
That is just part of the natural evolution at Wrexham and if some big signings can be secured, Brunt dreams of going to the Premier League may not be all that crazy.
