Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has said he’d consider being Wrexham’s manager one day should Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney ask him.
Wrexham have endured a difficult start to the new League Two season, having won just one game out of their opening five league matches.
The Red Dragons breezed through the National League last season on route to a record points tally, and were one of the favourites to be promoted from League Two this season. However, injuries, retirements, and a leaky defence have left the Reds in 18th place with plenty to do.

Man United legend throws his name in the hat to become Wrexham manager
Wrexham have more pressure on them than ever thanks to the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney ownership. More eyes are on the Welsh club than ever before, and while there’s no suggestions manager Phil Parkinson‘s job is under pressure, it seems one Premier League legend already has an eye on Parkinson’s job.
Rather surprisingly, Manchester United Treble winner Dwight Yorke has put name into the hat to become Wrexham manager one day.

Yorke: “If Wrexham approached me and asked me to manage the team, I’d consider it”
Speaking to OLBG, Yorke said: “I’m unemployed as a manager and I’m very passionate about trying to get back into the industry. If Wrexham approached me and asked me to manage the team, I’d consider it. I have to make a decision that aligns with my ideas and ambitions.
“If Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney matched my mindset, then it’s a good opportunity for me. There’s a lot of hype around the club and that’s understandable because of what the owners bring to the club. If the opportunity presents itself to me and have that initial conversation with the owners about our vision for the club, then it’s a serious and exciting gig. It’s a football job that you need to be your best at, not somewhere to have fun.”
The Trinidadian and Tobagonian star played for Aston Villa, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Sydney FC and Sunderland during his career. He signed for United in 1998 for £12.6m and won the Premier League title, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League in 1999 with the Red Devils.
Yorke retired from football in 2009 and moved into coaching. He has only managed one club, Australian club Macarthur FC, whom he won the Australia Cup in 2022 with.
For now, though, Phil Parkinson is still very much the man at the helm in Wrexham. The Red Dragons are next in action on Saturday for a 12:30pm kick-off against Tranmere.
