Wrexham have completed the Deadline Day signing of West Bromwich Albion striker Modou Faal.
After news broke yesterday, with one report claiming that Modou Faal was undergoing his medical at Wrexham, the 21-year-old has since completed a three-year move to the Racecourse Ground.
Standing at 6 foot 4, Faal becomes the striker signing that Phil Parkinson has been desperately craving, with the 56-year-old sourcing a long-term partner for goal machine Paul Mullin.
The young Gambian striker joined West Brom from Sutton Coldfield in 2019, and while he’s only made one senior appearance for the Baggies, he did make a positive impression out on loan.
Last season, he experienced two spells in League Two at Doncaster Rovers and Walsall, with the striker plundering 15 goals.
Now, after signing for League One high-flyers Wrexham, Faal is understandably delighted.

Modou Faal’s first words after sealing Wrexham transfer
Speaking to Wrexham’s official website after sealing a move, Faal said: “I have had a smile on my face since I’ve been here. I’m excited and thoroughly buzzing to be here – I can’t wait to get started.
“I think everyone in the football world now knows just how big of a Club this is, and where it wants to be.
“Ever since I heard about the project that has been going on here, it has been on an upwards trajectory. Over the last couple of years it has been a Club that has really come through and since hearing about all of that and speaking to the gaffer, it made my decision very simple.
“I scored my first professional goal here, and when I came here it was an unbelievable place to play at. The fans are incredible, every single seat was filled. The atmosphere was rumbling and the stadium was absolutely buzzing – to finally be a part of that, It’s unbelievable.”
To land the highly-rated striker from a Championship outfit is a terrific piece of business, and it could now spell bad news for some Wrexham players.
Faal is a long-term replacement for Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher
There are many winners and losers in the Wrexham squad following Faal’s transfer but in terms of those set to suffer, that is mainly in the striker position.
Parkinson has made it clear that next to Mullin, he wants a tall and physical forward, who perhaps holds up the ball unselfishly and makes runs in behind.
Steven Fletcher and Ollie Palmer played that role well last term and have continued flourishing in the third tier, with both players scoring.
However, their long-term future is now in jeopardy. Fletcher will likely announce his retirement next summer while Palmer’s contract at the Racecourse expires in 2025.
Faal, meanwhile, is a long-term replacement for that ageing duo, with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds continuing to flesh out the squad with younger players.
