Wrexham have been linked with so many strikers this summer and one report suggests that Phil Parkinson is closing in on a new addition.

Wrexham have started the new season with seven points from three games, picking up two wins and a draw in a decent start to the campaign.

Phil Parkinson has even been boosted by the return of striker Paul Mullin with the Wrexham goal hero now back from injury.

Mullin will be looking to hit the goal trail soon but Wrexham do have other striking options.

Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher have already got off the market this season whilst Jack Marriott has impressed Parkinson and scored a stunning goal against Wycombe Wanderers.

Wrexham have players who can score plenty of goals but Parkinson remains keen on adding one more striking option before Friday’s deadline.

Wrexham linked with Modou Fall deal

Sheffield Wednesday’s Michael Smith has been on the Wrexham radar but a deal has not progressed ahead of the window closing.

Rather than going for another experienced striker, Wrexham may instead sign a project striker who can be moulded into a potential star.

Gambian reporter Foday Manneh now reports that West Bromwich Albion striker Modou Faal is ‘close to joining’ Wrexham.

Manneh has broken exclusives around Gambian players for a while now and he claims Faal is set to undergo a medical with Wrexham ‘shortly’.

Faal hails from The Gambia but moved to Birmingham with his family at the age of just seven.

Faal is allegedly signing a three-year deal with the option of a fourth as Wrexham allegedly close in.

Barnsley have been chasing Faal but Manneh claims Wrexham have won the race for the striker’s signature.

Faal has ideal strikers to learn from at Wrexham

Faal started out with Sutton Coldfield Town before being snapped up by West Bromwich Albion in 2019.

The 21-year-old has only played three first-team games for the Baggies and has spent most of his time out on loan.

Spells with Hereford, AFC Telford United and AFC Fylde helped Fall develop before hitting nine goals in 33 games on loan at Doncaster Rovers in the first half of last term.

Faal spent the second half of the campaign on loan with Walsall and scored six times in 20 games, meaning he finished the season with 15 goals in 53 games across all competitions.

Faal is a huge presence at nearly 6ft 4in tall and has been backed to become ‘unplayable’ by Doncaster boss Grant McCann when speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield.

This is a signing with the future in mind and Wrexham may have the perfect strikers to help Faal unlock his potential.

The likes of Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher have been exceptional target man at various levels of the game and can pass on their experience to Faal.

If Faal can take of that knowledge on board and add to his game, Wrexham may well have a striker who can shine for years to come.
