Wrexham striker Kieffer Moore led the line for Wales in their 3-0 defeat against England in an international friendly on Thursday night.

Wales headed to Wembley for a game against neighbours England on Thursday. The Welsh fans were loud and proud despite going into the break 3-0 down, though Craig Bellamy’s side shored up in the second half.

Wrexham striker Kieffer Moore was called up for international duty this month, along with teammate Nathan Broadhead.

Moore, 33, led the line for Wales but as expected, it proved to be a tough night. Last month, Moore earned his 50th cap for Wales but he couldn’t add to his 15 goals for the country.

Kieffer Moore ‘isolated all night’ as England thump Wales

England looked unstoppable in the opening 20 minutes or so. Bukayo Saka curled one into the top corner to put the Three Lions 3-0 up on the 20 minute mark allowing Wales barely anything in the England half in the first half especially.

Moore played 76 minutes of the game but struggled to get involved against an England side who allowed Wales very little. Daily Mail wrote of the Wrexham man’s performance: “The veteran striker got nothing out of Guéhi and Stones, although he nodded one chance over,” as Wales Online wrote: “Isolated all night. Never really got a sniff in the final third with his best moments coming in his own box. Subbed.”

Welsh fan site clwbpeldroed.org added: “The towering forward did a largely thankless job, battling with the English defence and winning numerous long balls in an effort to push his side up the pitch, but he struggled with the lack of support around him.”

One worry for Wrexham after England 3-0 Wales

Broadhead was an unused substitute against England. Moore though put in a good shift, albeit without making much of an impact. Phil Parkinson though might be worried to have seen Moore down clutching his ankle in the first half.

Moore has been nursing an ankle injury for a few weeks but continues to play for club and country. The Wrexham boss might now be hoping that Moore is rested for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Belgium on Monday, before Wrexham return to action against Stoke City next weekend.

But Bellamy might ask for another big shift from Moore who is the main man in attack for Wales. It would risk injury though and if Moore picked up a knock that sidelined him, it would be a real blow for Parkinson and Wrexham.
