Official deadline set for Phil Parkinson to axe multiple players from his Wrexham Championship squad

Wrexham will have to leave a number of players out of their Championship squad once the EFL deadline has passed.

A number of key changes have been made at Wrexham since their promotion to the Championship.

Previously crucial players have moved on, with Paul Mullin angering Wigan Athletic fans this week after his first League One start since departing the Racecourse Ground.

While plenty of exits have already transpired, Wrexham have been very busy when it comes to new signings.

At present, there have been nine senior players brought to the club this summer, which has left the Welsh outfit with a vastly inflated squad.

Championship squad registration deadline

EFL rules mean Wrexham can’t register more than 25 players aged 21 or above in their Championship squad.

At present, Phil Parkinson is free to select any player he likes as nobody needs to be registered at this stage.

But the deadline for each club to submit their squad is confirmed in the EFL Handbook.

It reads: “44.9.3 Each Club shall submit its Squad List to The League:

“(a) within 24 hours of a Transfer Window; or

“(b) such other date and time as may be notified by the League.”

The 2025 summer transfer window will close on Monday September 1 at 7pm BST, meaning Wrexham must submit their Championship squad by 7pm BST on September 2.

But with Wrexham closing in on Callum Doyle from Manchester City, it means another player will also miss out.
