Paul Mullin has sent a message to one Wrexham player following a brilliant performance against Wycombe Wanderers.
Wrexham are still living off the high of getting a statement win at home to Wycombe Wanderers, with the Reds getting a 3-2 victory in their opening game of the season.
The pressure was on for Phil Parkinson’s side to perform at the Racecourse Ground and continue their rich run of form from last season that saw them promoted from League Two, and they were certainly able to live up to expectations with the win.
Max Cleworth opened the scoring for Wrexham, whilst strikers Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher also opened their accounts for the 2024/25 League One season.
It was just Marriott’s second Wrexham goal since he joined halfway through the 2023/24 League Two campaign, and his performance saw him gain plaudits from co-owner Rob McElhenney, as well as Paul Mullin, who sent the striker a message after his well-taken goal.

Paul Mullin praises Jack Marriott after goal against Wycombe Wanderers
Marriott’s goal against Wycombe Wanderers oozed class as he hit it on the volley past the goalkeeper with the confidence and ability of a 20 goals-a-season striker, and Mullin certainly recognised the incredible strike by his teammate.
Mullin, who wasn’t available for Wrexham’s opening game of the season took to his Instagram account, where he said: “Lovely start to season!! What a goal Jack Marriott.”

Once Mullin returns to the side, he will undoubtedly compliment Marriott incredibly well in a front two, particularly if Marriott is able to hit a run of form.
Both strikers are proven to be dangerous at this level when they are on form, and that could send shivers down the 23 other League One sides.
Since Mullin arrived at the Racecourse, he has consistently been a brilliant asset for Wrexham and a dependable goalscorer as they have shot up the divisions, and this could even help Marriott reach his pinnacle this season as well.
The pair will certainly compliment each other incredibly well, a lot more than Ollie Palmer who will likely be utilised as a back-up striker this season, especially with Wrexham being interested in Sheffield Wednesday pair Bailey Cadamarteri and Michael Smith.
Previous stints at Peterborough and Derby County have shown the goalscoring talents that Marriott holds, and it wouldn’t be unlikely for him to reach those heights once again.
