Phil Parkinson has stated that Wrexham still ‘have to do better’ despite the two stoppage time goals that saw a dramatic draw at the Racecourse ground.

What a game it was on Saturday. From 4-1 down at halftime, to finishing with two unbelievably dramatic stoppage-time goals to snatch a draw and send the Wrexham faithful into a state of sheer delirium.

It was a great day for Red Dragons fans and in particular the owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who went through a whirlwind of emotions in the 90-minute stint.

Nevertheless, it still wasn’t a win, which the gaffer has pointed out isn’t good enough.

Phil Parkinson criticizes Wrexham despite heroics vs Swindon

Despite the sheer elation exuberating from Red Dragons fans after the excitement of Saturday’s fixture, Phil Parkinson flipped the situation on its head and suggested that the club shouldn’t have been in the position to need the two late goals.

Speaking with the media after the fixture, Parkinson had the following to say:

“We need a review of a lot of things,” says Parkinson. “We will be working on the training ground to improve. We regroup, take the point and definitely take some positives. I don’t want to be too down after we witnessed another incredible game here.

“People will be talking about this for a long time. But that first half, when crosses came in from the right-hand side, that is not what we are about. We have to do better.

“Everyone can have a good look at themselves over the weekend and come back in Monday morning to go again.”

He is right. You can’t let the heroics blindside the fact that Wrexham were actually quite poor throughout the fixture.

Wrexham do need to buck their ideas up

If they want any chance of staying in the EFL, things need to improve. They currently sit 15th but only have one win to their name.

What’s probably more worrying than anything is the number of goals Parkinson’s team have leaked thus far.

13 goals in four games is pretty shocking. Thankfully the Red Dragons have been firing, but if the goals were to ever dry up – they could very well be in trouble.
