Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson has confirmed that striker, Steven Fletcher requires surgery after a knee injury.
The striker was signed by Wrexham over the summer and has scored two goals so far since a move to Wales.
This came around as Phil Parkinson looked for cover as Paul Mullin struggled with an injury suffered in pre-season.
Another injury to add to an ever-growing list at The Racecourse which has had an effect on the team so far.
What has Phil Parkinson said about Steven Fletcher?
It has been reported that the former Wolverhampton Wanderers forward had been playing with a knee problem.
After playing with this issue, it appears that he can’t continue with it and needs surgery.
Discussing this with Leader Live, Parkinson said: “Steven has had a problem with his knee and the specialist has decided he needs an operation.
“He just hyper-extended it after being here three or four weeks and has been trying to get on with it but unfortunately it has got to the point where he can’t carry on any longer so he is having surgery.”
The Reds do have plenty of forward options at their disposal, but they would rather not lose another player to injury.

This one is made worse by a lack of a return date or recovery time which could give the fans some hope.
Adding to his previous statement, the manager said: “We won’t know the extent of the time he is going to be out until the surgeon has performed the operation.”
Wrexham’s injury list
With Fletcher now injured, there is a hefty list of ailments at the club right now.
Eoghan O’Connell and Ryan Barnett have already been ruled for eight weeks each, leaving the Reds light at the back.
This is added to by issues for Jordan Tunnicliffe, Rob Lainton and Aaron Hayden which has seen them miss many games.
The latter is said to be in the ending stages of his rehab and may be back in training as soon as next week.
A tough time for Parkinson but with Wrexham in third at the time of writing, it isn’t showing on the pitch.
