Wrexham face Northampton Town in a crucial game in the race for League One promotion.

Phil Parkinson’s side have not played in the league since their dramatic 2-1 win away at Crawley Town, with Elliot Lee scoring a last minute header.

Since then, attentions have been on the EFL Trophy and Wrexham have earned themselves a spot in the semi final however, fans are not confident that the Red Dragons will beat Peterborough United.

Wrexham now go in search of three vital points in League One as they currently sit four points behind Wycombe in second place and Parkinson has some selection dilemmas ahead of the game.

Andy Cannon looking to repeat Wrexham EFL Trophy form in League One promotion push

Speaking to The Leader, goalscorer in the last two EFL Trophy games Andy Cannon has been speaking about replicating his cup form into the league if given the opportunity.

Cannon stated: “It is good to score. The last two games I have got a goal which is nice, if I get my chance in the league, I need to do it in the league as well.”

The midfielder also then reflected on the amount of games that Wrexham have coming up and knows that there will be opportunities to help the side along the way.

Cannon explained: “We have got a lot of Saturday-Tuesday’s coming up now, it was vital for players to get minutes in their legs against Bolton because it’s going to be a busy month. We need everyone ready because everyone’s going to have to play their part.”

Cannon or Lee should start for Wrexham against Northampton Town

Wrexham must go in search of three points against Northampton and have struggled to create chances from midfield in recent weeks.

Wrexham fans enjoyed Cannon’s ‘magic’ goal against Bolton and Lee has also been in good form in front of goal.

Parkinson may choose to include one of the duo in his starting eleven in order to add a touch more flair to his midfield against a struggling Northampton side.

Wrexham beat Northampton 4-1 at the Racecourse Ground earlier in the season where Lee was also on target in that game, alongside Jack Marriott and a James McClean brace.
