It has been a great season for Wrexham so far which as seen them challenge at the top end of the League Two table.

At the time of writing the Reds are sitting in second place and are just two points off Stockport County in top spot.

This week sees a break from league action as Phil Parkinson’s side travel to face Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup fourth round.

They will be looking to replicate their success in the cup from last season which saw them narrowly knocked out by Sheffield United.

Parkinson gives injury update ahead of Blackburn

It is safe to say that there are plenty of injuries and suspension troubles that Wrexham have had to deal with this season.

From Paul Mullin in pre-season to Arthur Okonkwo in recent weeks, there has been many injury concerns. Now there has been a suspension problem for Will Boyle who will miss up to three games after a red card against Newport.

The Wrexham manager hasn’t shied away from discussing these issues. Now he has opened up to Leader Live ahead of this week’s FA Cup clash.

On that: “Fletch has had a scan. It is not serious but he is going to be touch and go for the Blackburn game.

“Fordey has had a back problem which he has been playing with and managing but it flared up when we trained on the 4G pitch last week because of the weather. He had an epidural injection on Monday so we will just see how that settles down.”

Luckily for Parkinson and Co. Jacob Mendy is set to make his return from the Africa Cup of Nations this week. He will be able to step up in place of the injured Forde while Ryan Barnett starts more games.

With Steven Fletcher returning from injury and performing well, it is extra frustrating that he is injured once again. This has seen rumours of signing strikers in the January window.

Continuing on, Parkinson added: “Tom is still the same, he is walking around and got a protective boot on at the moment. Andy is following the concussion profile this week and Jordan is making good progress.”

These three are all going to be further misses for the Reds as they make the journey to Ewood Park in hope of FA Cup success.
