Wrexham’s hopes of League One promotion have been given a boost without even kicking a ball before their clash with Mansfield.

Wrexham will be aiming to match a 20-year record by winning three successive away fixtures in the Football League for the first time since August 2003.

Ryan Longman could replace James McClean in the team following the captain’s scan on a potential hip injury after the defeat to Leyton Orient.

Wrexham will also need to stop Will Evans if they are to stand any chance of claiming the three points, which could prove pivotal in the League One promotion race given how their rivals performed.

Wrexham’s promotion rivals fail to win in League One

Wrexham have an excellent opportunity to move to within three points of Wycombe Wanderers following their 0-0 draw at home to Wigan.

As per the popular Wrexham podcast Rob.Ryan.Red. none of Wrexham’s major promotion rivals were able to win on a ‘good day’ for Phil Parkinson’s men.

The Red Dragons could have found themselves in fifth place had results gone differently but will now use the boost to try and build momentum once again following their defeat to Orient last time out.

Wrexham must improve their creativity and it is believed that Andy Cannon could come into midfield to provide that creative spark in the Wrexham predicted XI.

Ollie Rathbone could be key once again to a Wrexham win

Parkinson bemoaned not giving Ollie Rathbone enough possession in the defeat to Orient after the midfielder kept his good recent run of form going in the 2-1 loss.

Rathbone starred in the Wrexham player ratings against The O’s and has hit a real purple patch in form highlighted by his data in the showing at the Racecourse Ground.

With the introduction of Cannon to the midfield, it would allow Rathbone to continue driving forward from midfield and to have someone to bounce the ball off and provide a creative force for Wrexham.

Three points at Field Mill are of utmost importance to the Red Dragons and you get the feeling Rathbone will be a huge part of any success should they achieve the win.
