Wrexham could face Peterborough in EFL Trophy semi final if they beat Bolton Wanderers

Wrexham host Bolton Wanderers at the Racecourse Ground and now know that if they beat Phil Parkinson’s former side they will face Peterborough at home in the semi final.

The draw means that Wrexham could potentially set up a final with League One promotion rivals Birmingham City, owned by NFL legend Tom Brady.

Ryan Longman is also set to be named as the player of the round for the last-16 after seeing off competition from Aaron Collins, Gustav Lindgren and Bobby Pointon.

Longman has impressed since joining Wrexham with three assists already to his name and has given Parkinson a real selection dilemma ahead of their next league fixture at Northampton.

Wrexham fixtures set to change

Whilst nothing has been confirmed by the club yet, it is thought that should Wrexham progress to the EFL Trophy semi final the tie would be played on Tuesday 25th February.

It means the League One match at home to Leyton Orient is set to be announced for Tuesday 18th February having been provisionally booked in for that date.

It is set to be a crucial few weeks of fixtures of Parkinson’s side as they juggle battling for promotion with the prospect of a trip to Wembley and the chance at silverware.
