Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have built a star-studded squad at Wrexham, leaving many blown away by the strength of options in their armoury.
During their time at Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have backed every manager at the club and Phil Parkinson will testify.
The 56-year-old was given a big budget to strengthen his squad in the summer.
He brought in the likes of James McClean, Will Boyle, Steven Fletcher and George Evans; four players who boasted previous expertise at playing higher up the pyramid.
Their experience in achieving success previously, with McClean and Fletcher plying their trade in the Premier League, has proven pivotal in their promotion charge.
Following two impressive victories over Accrington Stanley and Morecambe, Wrexham are now two points inside the automatic promotion places.
Parkinson’s men are in a strong position to achieve back-to-back promotions. That is largely down to the goals of Paul Mullin, who has plundered 15 in 28 appearances this term.
The 29-year-old has proven how influential he has been over the past few years and has scored goals for fun.
Surprisingly, though, journalist Adrian Clarke has praised the influence of Wrexham’s midfield.
Wrexham told their midfield is ‘really, really strong’
In the win over Morecambe, the partnership of Mullin and Ollie Palmer impressed once more, however, their midfield was the glue that held it all together.
Clarke has picked Andy Cannon, Elliot Lee and McClean out for praise, reserving a special mention for the latter, who has been phenomenal since moving into midfield.
“The front guys did the biz, I’m not just talking about the strikers, obviously Paul Mullin scored, Palmer, he’s a great target man isn’t he and Fletcher comes off the bench.” Clarke told the What the EFL?! podcast.
“But the midfield of Elliot Lee, Cannon and James McClean all really really strong. James McClean is enjoying his football at the moment, he was playing wing back wasn’t he but Mendy is back now from injury. So they’ve pushed up McClean into a midfield position and he’s having some really good performances. Yeah, this was the performance of a top three team.”

McClean was the missing piece to the puzzle
Parkinson initially struggled to cope with the injury to George Evans.
The 29-year-old acted as a screen in front of the Wrexham defence and his presence has been sorely missed.
However, Parkinson has resolved that issue by deploying McClean as a central midfielder and it has worked wonders.
McClean displays high levels of athleticism, particularly for League Two level, and possesses quality in the final third – as seen with his strike against Morecambe last weekend.
Before the Republic of Ireland star switched to midfield, Wrexham were devoid of creativity and someone to link play with the forwards.
In the four matches he’s played in the engine room, McClean – who has recorded seven assists this season – has shown he’s capable of filling that void.
Let’s just hope he can avoid a suspension against Harrogate Town tonight.
