Wrexham return to League One action once again this weekend, taking on Peterborough United at the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham didn’t exactly start 2025 in ideal fashion.

Phil Parkinson took his side to South Yorkshire to take on Barnsley but saw Wrexham come up short.

Wrexham were beaten 2-1 at Oakwell having gone 2-0 down by the break.

Max Cleworth’s goal gave Wrexham hope it just wasn’t to be as Barnsley ran out winners.

Eoghan O’Connell struggled in Wrexham’s defeat as Barnsley ace Davis Keillor-Dunn haunted Wrexham, leaving Parkinson wanting a major response against Peterborough United.

Wrexham transfer win over Peterborough United playing off

Wrexham welcome Peterborough to the STōK Cae Ras this weekend, looking to continue Parkinson’s outstanding home record.

The game sees Darren Ferguson make a return to the club having been a Wrexham fan favourite during his playing days.

Ferguson is expecting a ‘fight’ against Wrexham this weekend and his leaky defence would certainly benefit from having Lewis Brunt involved.

Over the summer, Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony admitted that Wrexham beat him to a signing by offering £3000-a-week more in wages.

The player involved is believed to have been Brunt, who spent last season on loan at Mansfield Town.

Wrexham’s investment has certainly paid off with Brunt becoming a key man in Parkinson’s back line.

Brunt’s rise took a little while as he started the season not only out of the starting XI, but often not even on the bench.

The 24-year-old is now showing his class with some outstanding displays, even on the left side of Wrexham’s defence.

Mia Roberts has hailed Brunt with his impact on the Wrexham back line growing over the course of the season.

Peterborough have already leaked 45 goals in 23 games this season, the worst record in League One.

Ferguson will probably wish that he had a player like Brunt in his ranks and Wrexham’s decision to blow the Posh out of the water is paying dividends.

Lewis Brunt may miss Peterborough clash

Wrexham would no doubt love to start Brunt against Peterborough but the defender may miss out.

Brunt missed the defeat to Barnsley through injury and it’s unclear whether he will be back in action.

Thomas O’Connor has been praised by Parkinson and will be ready to step up again if Brunt can’t return.

Wrexham boast a strong defensive record this season and Brunt is playing his part with much more to come from the defender.
