Rob McElhenney has described Wrexham’s fixture against Philadelphia Union II as a ‘dream come true’ as his side prepares to face his hometown club.
Wrexham has endured a fantastic time in America. Despite losing their first game to Chelsea, the Red Dragons have bounced back and won two in two – including a memorable victory against Manchester United.
There was some bad news on tour, with star man Paul Mullin suffering a punctured lung, but that won’t deter Wrexham. They’ve still enjoyed a fantastic stint on tour.
Now the Welsh side face Philadelphia II in a match that will be unbelievably special for Rob McElhenney.

‘Dream come true’ for Rob McElhenney
Ahead of their last match of the tour, McElhenney took to socials to share an emotional message of delight as his side are set to face his hometown.
He wrote: “A dream comes true for me tomorrow. Thank you, Wrexham, Philadelphia Union and the entire city of Brotherly Love. Wow.”
We can only imagine the sheer pride McElhenney must be feeling. To have the club you own and love, and travel all the way to the place you were born and raised must be nothing short of well, magical.
It is unknown as to whether Ryan Reynolds will attend. He was present at the Chelsea fixture in New York but hasn’t been there to see his side since.
McElhenney will definitely be in attendance. He made the journey to watch his side beat Manchester United, so a short trip down the road for him will be a nice relief.
But this begs the question… who will he be supporting? It best be Wrexham – none of the half-and-half shenanigans, please!
