Wrexham co-owner, Rob McElhenney has opened up about what he does as a keep-sake at every Wrexham game he watches live.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds took over Wrexham in 2020 and have witnessed many iconic moments so far.

With experienced manager, Phil Parkinson at the helm, promotion to League Two was secured. This in the second season of R&R’s tenure.

It has to be said that the owners have taken the club to their heart. This week McElhenney has opened up saying the Reds bring him ‘great joy‘.

The pair do try to get to games, as shown by ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ where they attended many games.

What has Rob McElhenney said?

It is clear that the Reds’ owners care about the club and McElhenney has been discussing a keep-sake he has made.

Speaking with The Athletic, the actor said: “I’m staring right now, in my office, at a thing my wife made for me. When I get down on the pitch, I have a tendency to take some of the grass and put it in my pocket. So I have a keep-sake of the event.

“I’d keep them in these little plastic bags and put a piece of paper inside with the occasion. She stole them from the drawer I keep them in and took them to a framer. Now they are behind this air-sealed glass.”

This is an excellent idea and something that every Wrexham fan is likely to be very jealous of.

Continuing on, McElhenney has opened up about his favourite events: “There’s my first home win I saw against Maidstone. The Hand of Foz, which is the Notts County game. The National League title.”

These are moments that will live long in the memory of Reds fans. Now their well-loved owner has a physical memory.

In the documentary, they revealed that they spent over £300,000 on the pitch, so it seems fair that he takes some cuttings.

Hopefully, there are many more pieces of grass he wants to keep as he continues to make memories. With Reynolds and McElhenney at the helm, this is likely to be the case.
