Wrexham owner, Rob McElhenney has opened up about his time owning the club and how happy expanding to a global fan base has made him.
Following the purchase of Wrexham in 2020, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have taken the club to their hearts.
With Phil Parkinson at the helm, on the pitch things have only got better. Off-the-pitch changes have also followed this which have benefitted the club.
The takeover hasn’t been without its challenges, generating a lot of negative traction from rivals, even as recently as the Accrington Stanley defeat.
With that being said, Wrexham fans won’t care as they find themselves in a great position. They’re challenging at the top end of League Two and are getting closer to developing The Racecourse.
The Reds have even become a well-known side in the United States of America, even playing there in front of huge crowds this summer.

What has Rob McElhenney said?
In an interview with The Athletic, the Wrexham owner has opened up about how pleased he is with his time at the club.
Speaking about his start to life in Wales, McElhenney said: “We have felt so welcomed into this community. From very early on, if not day one, the people of Wrexham were willing to see what we were all about. Curious, with open hearts.
“Throughout that entire process, we’ve felt nothing but the support of the community. And we just like to return that in any way we can.”
With the series, ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘, it was made clear that the fans were 100% behind their American owners. This is due to the positive impact they have had on the club in a short space of time.
This show, paired with the fame of the owners, has allowed a wider audience to become invested in Wrexham.
Opening up on that, McElhenney said: “To watch people all over the world, but specifically people in the United States, find themselves in this small town in north Wales was really profound.
“The fact they then – which we were hoping they would do – transferred their interest and love for the people of Wrexham into love and interest for the football team has been one of the great joys and experiences of my life.”
This will please those who have supported the club for their whole lives, seeing their club on a global platform.
It has been a great few years under Rob and Ryan and long may their love affair with Wrexham continue.
