Wrexham faced their toughest test of the season so far last week when they travelled to Birmingham City.
It was a star-studded affair when Wrexham faced off with Birmingham City in a League One clash last week.
Rob McElhenney made the trip to St Andrew’s along with a number of other celebrity guests.
David Beckham gave an ‘incredible’ verdict after watching the two sides battle it out in the Midlands on Monday evening.
Birmingham City’s owner and former NFL star Tom Brady was also in attendance to watch his side come away with an impressive 3-1 win.
After the tie, Brady sent a message to Wrexham fans and McElhenney, praising their supporters and the atmosphere they helped create.
But now, something that took place prior to the match getting underway has now come to light and it is hilarious.

How Rob McElhenney was ‘trolled’ ahead of Birmingham City vs Wrexham
Like a lot of celebrities these days, Brady has started a YouTube channel of his own.
There is a variety of different content on the channel but the latest video uploaded at the time of writing saw the former NFL star document his experience before, during and after the Birmingham versus Wrexham tie.
In the video, Brady conducts a short interview alongside McElhenney, in which the Wrexham co-owner shares how he was hilariously ‘trolled’ by his son ahead of the game.
Brady is, of course, a legend in the NFL world and McElhenney revealed that just before he left for the game, his son asked him to take a playing card of Brady for the Birmingham owner to sign.
He said: “My son trolled me as I was leaving the house. He was like oh dad, dad, hold on a second.
“Can you do something for me and I was like ‘what’? He said, ‘can you ask Tom to sign this for me and can you record him doing it so that I know you didn’t fake it’.”
Why Wrexham must beat Birmingham City in next fixture
After being trolled by his son, McElhenney was then forced to watch 90 minutes of his side getting beat.
The defeat was Wrexham’s first in the league this season and allowed Birmingham to go level on points with them at the top of League One.
Birmingham spent £20m on just one player during the 2024 summer transfer window and are one of, if not the favourite to win promotion this season.
Phil Parkinson’s men are now in that conversation as well though after losing just one of their first seven league matches this term.
The two giants of the third tier next clash on January 25th, 2025, at the Racecourse Ground and the match could have major implications in the promotion race.
As a result, anything but a win for Wrexham, especially as they are at home, could prove disastrous in their attempts to secure a place in the Championship for the first time in their history.
