Wrexham co-owner, Rob McElhenney has opened up about his desire to watch a Wrexham game in the stands as Alan Shearer did with Newcastle United this weekend.
This week sees Wrexham travel to face Blackburn Rovers as they continue their FA Cup journey with the fourth round.
The competition is one that Phil Parkinson has taken seriously in his time as manager of the Reds and this season has been no different.
Following a hard-fought win for the Reds over Shrewsbury Town in the last round, a trip to a Championship side awaits.
With this game on the horizon, Rob McElhenney has now expressed a desire to follow in the footsteps of Alan Shearer this weekend.

Alan Shearer Newcastle attendance
This weekend saw Newcastle United legend, Shearer, attend the Magpies’ FA Cup fourth-round win against Fulham.
An unusual event which doesn’t typically happen because he is typically on punditry duty or doesn’t risk going in with the fans.
Following the 2-0 win, Shearer took to social media to voice his happiness with being able to watch a game with the fans.
On that, he said: “Ah man what a f——- night that was. In the away end for the first time since 1985. I bloody loved it. TOON TOON.”
It is clear to see that the legendary striker loved his evening watching his team. This has sparked conversation from a Wrexham point of view.
Rob McElhenney makes Wrexham crowd claim
Following the appearance of Shearer in the crowd for Newcastle, plenty of fans questioned if their own club legend would sit in with the fans.
In a surprise to nobody, a Wrexham fan fired the question towards their owners who are always up for showing their support.
One fan responded by saying: “You should defo do an away end someday Rob McElhenney, Ryan Reynolds, Humphrey Ker.
“Totally get Shaun will advise against it on grounds of safety. Shearer just went in the Toon end and survived. It’s all good. What’s the worst that can happen? Being overwhelmed by love !”
It must be said with the fame that comes with the Reds’ Hollywood owners, this may pose a safety risk for all involved. Although, a legend the size of Shearer was able to cope so potentially this could happen in the Wrexham end.
This received a response from McElhenney himself who replied in a typical fashion as he showed his love and support for the club.
On that, he said: “There is nothing I want more than to experience a game in that end. I think about it all the time.”
It is great to see that the Reds owner wants to get involved with the club in this sense. With his attendance at The Racecourse, he could certainly add to this with an awayday soon.
