Wrexham continued an exceptional unbeaten start to the League One season by beating Shrewsbury Town 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
With Chester nowhere in sight for Wrexham, Shrewsbury Town is certainly the biggest derby of the season.
Just about 32 miles separate Wrexham and Shrewsbury with both sides fully aware of the magnitude of the occasion.
Wrexham striker Jack Marriott was excited about the clash whilst Shrewsbury boss Paul Hurst called it a ‘massive’ game.
The game itself was all about Wrexham though as Ollie Palmer and Elliot Lee established a 2-0 lead before the break.
Marriott added number three after the break to hand Wrexham a 3-0 lead and bragging rights on derby day.

Rob McElhenney sends message to Birmingham City’s Tom Brady
That is now four clean sheets in a row for Wrexham and Phil Parkinson should be delighted with how his side is performing.
Wrexham now sit top of League One and yes, it’s only five games of a 46-game slog, but Wrexham have started brilliantly.
As if facing Shrewsbury on Saturday wasn’t big enough, Wrexham now have another huge game on the horizon.
A week on Monday, Wrexham will travel to take on Birmingham City in a keenly-anticipated encounter.
Both sides have shown major ambition in the transfer market with North American ownership pushing both clubs into the spotlight.
There is also a battle of the celebrities in a way as Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds will cheer on Wrexham against Tom Brady’s Birmingham.
Brady’s stake in Birmingham is much smaller but he has added some star power from a celebrity standpoint having been arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history.
The game is still over a week away but McElhenney is already sending messages to Brady ahead of the clash.
McElhenney took to Twitter on Saturday evening to state ‘see you next Monday Tom Brady, should be an absolute banger’.
Whether Brady will be watching the game is unclear but McElhenney – a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan – would no doubt love a win over Brady and the Blues.
Wrexham will be no pushovers
Birmingham have spent massively this summer, more than 10 times the amount Wrexham have paid for new signings.
The Blues are expecting to go straight back up to the Championship and will have quality players on show against Wrexham.
Parkinson and co have already shown that Wrexham are a tough nut to crack though.
Top League One sides Bolton Wanderers and Peterborough United have found they couldn’t even score against Wrexham, never mind claim a win.
The trip to Birmingham won’t be easy but Parkinson will have his side well-drilled and ready to go in an attempt to leave the West Midlands with a positive result – and maybe give McElhenney some ammunition against Brady.
