Wrexham striker Paul Mullin had a tough 2024/25 season, but Rob McElhenney has been full of praise for the striker.
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds ignored a warning about signing Paul Mullin during their first summer as Wrexham owners.
There was concern about his potential wage and trying to convince League Two’s top goalscorer, who had just won promotion to the third tier, to drop down to the National League.
In the end, the now 30-year-old arrived at the Racecourse Ground for free and went on to have three simply superb seasons.
However, after helping Wrexham reach League One, the striker found minutes much harder to come by in 2024/25.

Rob McElhenney praises Wrexham striker Paul Mullin
Mullin was injured over the summer and missed the opening few games of the most recent season, with Jack Marriott starting alongside Ollie Palmer up front.
The Liverpool-born star did eventually return to the team and scored a 16-second goal against Rotherham United.
However, Mullin was dropped by Phil Parkinson at the end of January, not making a league appearance after the 28th of that month.
Now, in the latest episode of Welcome to Wrexham, McElhenney has discussed Mullin’s changing role and praised the striker heavily.
He said: “The change is constant, somebody like Paul, who’s a Wrexham legend, is adjusting to the changes of the squad, as is the nature of the sport.
“But the great news is he’s a force of nature in so many different ways and has an incredible platform and a desire to reach out and uplift the community, and that’s what Wrexham’s all about.”

Paul Mullin speaks on charity work
Mullin, as Rob mentioned, has done incredible work for charity over the last several years.
The centre-forward is a Your Space patron – a charity that supports young people with Autism and their families, based in Llay, Wrexham – and he opened up on his work with the charity in April, as per the BBC.
He said: “I see how they help families… they do their best to cater for all, and they provide that extra bit of security.
“People are more aware [of autism], that’s fantastic… that’s the ultimate aim.
“I want to raise as much awareness around the world as possible, and acceptance. I just want it to be accepted as normal.
“The more people that talk about it, the better.
