Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have responded to rival fans who have been less than supportive of Wrexham since the takeover.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds bought Wrexham in February 2021.

Since then, the club have managed to end a 15-year stint in the National League and are back in the second tier of English football for the first time since the 1980s.

Wrexham’s value has increased massively in the years following on from the North American duo’s purchase, which set them back £2m.

But while Rob and Ryan’s arrival has been amazing for the football club and town, rival fans haven’t always exactly been kind about the club, nor their Hollywood owners.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s message to Wrexham’s rivals

The latest season of the hugely successful Welcome to Wrexham is now streaming on Disney+.

The first two episodes premiered last week, while Episode 3 aired for fans in the UK on Friday, May 23.

Episode 3 is titled ‘Disney FC’, with the main story throughout the show focusing on rival supporters and their views on Wrexham.

The club has been nicknamed Disney FC due to their owners, who have now responded to those angry with the Red Dragons.

In a message to opposition fans, McElhenney said: “Two things. One, to all the opposing clubs that are upset we didn’t choose them and went with Wrexham instead, I am sorry. And two, what was two again?”

Ryan then responded: “One was sorry we thought Wrexham was more special than the other clubs, and two was…”

The duo then proceeded to jokingly put their middle fingers up when pretending to try and think about what thing two was.

Wrexham reaping rewards of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney

It’s easy to see why people from other football clubs have become jealous of Wrexham in the last four years.

The club has become the first side in history to win three promotions in a row, starting in the fifth tier or higher.

And their journey up the EFL ladder under Rob and Ryan is showing no signs of slowing down.

Wrexham could spend £40m this summer, with the increased revenue brought via their owners’ high profiles giving them plenty of headroom despite now having to comply with PSR.
