Ryan Reynolds has voiced his happiness as he and Rob McElhenney have been nominated for yet another award for ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ by the Producers Guild.

In the past week, ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ has come away from the Emmys with five awards at the 75th edition of the awards.

There was only one other show to win more awards. This was ‘The Last of Us’ which won eight different awards, making the club’s achievement even better.

The documentary followed the progress of Phil Parkinson’s side as they looked to secure National League promotion.

Following this the Reds have gone on to succeed in League Two as they currently sit in second place, at the time of writing.

There have now been reports in the past month that a series three is in the works. Given the positive campaign so far, this will make for another interesting season.

In yet another impressive turn of events, the Reds have been recognised on the global stage once again.

Wrexham gets Producers Guild nomination

This week has seen the Producers Guild release their nomination list for their upcoming awards for Movies and TV.

The one category that will catch the eye is that ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ has received yet another award nomination.

The award category that they have been involved with is ‘The Award for Outstanding Producer of Non-Fiction Television’.

At the Emmys, the show was nominated for: “Outstanding Picture Editing For An Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Directing For A Reality Program; Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Reality Program (Single or Multi-Camera), Outstanding Cinematography For A Reality Program.”

With that being said, Ryan Reynolds has now taken to Twitter to react to the Producers Guild nominating the documentary.

On that, he said: “Five Emmys and now this. Immensely proud of Welcome To Wrexham and the entire crew. Particularly my fellow producers, Rob McElhenney and George Dewey who put SO MUCH LOVE into this. And huge thanks Producers Guild for the recognition.”

It is safe to say that plenty of work went into the documentary and it is well deserving of this recognition from the Producers Guild.

It is surreal to be seeing this level of support heading to Wrexham given where they were languishing just a few years ago.

This is just another positive page in the story of McElhenney and Reynolds at the helm at The Racecourse. Long may it continue.
