Wrexham were struggling to score goals before they signed two strikers in the January transfer window.
Welcome to Wrexham Season 4 Episode 5 has been released on Friday, focusing on the halfway point of the 2024/25 season and, in particular, the January transfer window.
Wrexham struggled somewhat in the middle of the campaign with a lack of goals from their strikers becoming a problem.
Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer had become goal-shy after several years of dominating the lower leagues, while Phil Parkinson had begun to hand Elliott Lee minutes up front.
Patrick Bamford, Ryan Hardie and Joe Gelhardt were among the many names linked in January before the club eventually landed Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.

Shaun Harvey on Wrexham January signings
Wrexham paid a club-record £2.02m for Smith, as was shown in the latest episode.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, arrived on a free transfer from now Premier League side Burnley.
As well as two new strikers, Wrexham signed Ryan Longman in a £500,000 deal from Hull City over the winter.
Shaun Harvey has been discussing the trio in the latest episode of the documentary, and when doing so, confirmed that Smith was the number one striker choice.
He said: “Ryan Longman to fill that right-wing-back role, Sam Smith who was, you know, the number one choice of a striker, and then Jay Rodriguez, who brings an element of experience that will make the difference between draws and wins. And it’s the difference between draws and wins that will determine how successful we are by the end.”

Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez Wrexham stats
No Wrexham striker hit double figures for goals in 2024/25, with Steven Fletcher coming closest with eight.
However, Smith was there for less than half the season and still managed to net an impressive seven in 19 matches.
As for Rodriguez, he scored two and assisted two in 18 appearances for Wrexham in 2025.
