Wrexham will face off with West Bromwich Albion in a Championship fixture on Saturday afternoon.

After not featuring in the second tier since 1982, Wrexham will play their first home Championship fixture of the season on August 16.

The Red Dragons’ 2025/26 campaign got off to a disappointing start when they conceded two late goals last weekend to lose to Southampton at St Mary’s.

They have since got back to winning ways after Ollie Palmer scored a brace, leading to Wrexham beating Hull City on penalties in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

But West Brom could prove a much tougher test than a rotated Tigers team that was nearly relegated last season.

Wrexham vs West Brom score prediction

West Brom have a new manager in Ryan Mason and got their season off to a winning start.

They beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 despite having a man sent off late in the fixture.

One EFL pundit has already predicted Wrexham to beat West Brom by one goal to nil.

Now Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has shared his score prediction for the fixture.

Speaking on the Essential EFL podcast ahead of the weekend’s action getting underway, he said: “Home win, 2-1.”

West Brom struggles outlined

Wrexham and West Brom have never faced off in a league fixture previously.

But the Baggies have taken on the Dragons’ Welsh rivals Cardiff City and Swansea City on plenty of occasions.

However, West Brom have won only one of their last seven away league games in Wales (D3 L3). That was a 1-0 victory over Cardiff in November 2023.

As for Wrexham, they have won their opening home game in five of their last six EFL campaigns.
