Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer was the hero as he scored twice off the bench to salvage Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Hull City.
Wrexham are through to the second round of the Carabao Cup, but only after some real drama against Hull City.
Elliot Lee opened the scoring for Wrexham, only for Oli McBurnie, Joel Ndala and Matt Crooks to put Hull 3-1 up.
Hull appeared to have the victory wrapped up, but Wrexham hit back in dramatic fashion through substitute Ollie Palmer.
Palmer has been made available by Wrexham, but he certainly wasn’t sulking as he scored two brilliant headers in a matter of moments.
Wrexham drew 3-3 with Hull at the end of 90 minutes, but prevailed on penalties to advance into the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Ollie Palmer reacts on Instagram after Wrexham heroics
Palmer was named on the bench against Hull, and some wondered whether he would actually make an appearance.
Phil Parkinson has made it clear that Palmer isn’t in his plans moving forward, despite his enormous role in the club’s rise.
Kieffer Moore’s injury may have changed matters, though, and Palmer was thrown on as Wrexham chased a route back into the game.
Palmer certainly made his presence felt and has now reacted on social media after his unbelievable performance.
‘Run it back’ said Palmer on Instagram, sharing just three words after such an emotional night at the STōK Cae Ras.
Palmer also included the number 35 as a hashtag, drawing attention to his shirt number at Wrexham.
The giant striker previously wore number nine, but has now been given the number 35 shirt instead.
That may seem harsh, but Palmer originally wore number 35 upon joining Wrexham from AFC Wimbledon in 2022, and scoring that brace in his first Wrexham shirt number will have meant a lot.

Wrexham players respond to Ollie Palmer
Palmer is just as popular with the Wrexham players as he is with supporters, with teammates flocking to send him messages.
‘Long Live The King’ said midfielder Andy Cannon, with Elliot Lee going down a similar route with ‘All Hail The King’.
‘All hail’, said Ryan Barnett, with Palmer enjoying a reputation as ‘the king’ in the Wrexham dressing room.
Lewis O’Brien, Sam Smith, Lewis Brunt and Dan Scarr all sent crown emojis, with George Evans and James McClean also showing their support.
Whether this was one final night of magic for Palmer or the beginning of his second act at Wrexham, this cameo is one that won’t be forgotten in a hurry.
