Wrexham’s 2022/2023 Player of the Season awards have been revealed, with ‘Super’ Paul Mullin creating history with back-to-back wins.

The 2022/2023 season will love long in the memory of Wrexham fans. The club was finally promoted back to the Football League after fifteen seasons after clinching the National League with a record 111 points.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney‘s club were dealt a blow the previous year after painfully missing out on promotion via the playoffs and losing the FA Trophy Final to Bromley.

However, they were able to bounce back from the disappointment of last year to win the National League title, ensuring their place in the fourth tier of English football from next season.

With the 2022/2023 season officially in the books, Wrexham had their annual end-of-season awards. Unsurprisingly, star striker Paul Mullin scooped the Men’s Player of the Season award, voted for by Wrexham AFC supporters. He also won the Wrexham’s Players’ Player of the Season and Top Goalscorer awards too.

Mullin created history by becoming the fifth player in the club’s history to win back-to-back Player of the Season awards. He scored an incredible 47 goals last season, including 38 league goals and nine FA Cup goals – the latter saw him win the competition’s Golden Ball award.

Mullin claimed 60 per cent of the supporter vote in Wrexham’s Player of the Season poll. Elliot Lee came in second and captain Ben Tozer came third.

A club statement read: ‘Mullin hit four hat-tricks, against Maidstone, Farnborough, Solihull Moors and Oldham Athletic. He also hit two in the season’s final home game – against Boreham Wood – to seal the National League title and promotion to EFL League Two.

‘He follows current team-mate Luke Young, and former players Kevin Russell, Mike Williams and Gary Bennett in winning the award in two consecutive seasons.’
