Wrexham have seen their promotion chances increase following their latest Championship fixture.
Wrexham faced one of their toughest tests so far this season in midweek, taking on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
The Foxes have been hard to beat this season and possess a wealth of Premier League-proven talent.
However, when all was said and done, Wrexham drew 1-1 with Leicester after what was a spirited display.
That point has seen the Dragons move up to 15th in the Championship table and given their promotion hopes a boost.

Wrexham promotion chances following Leicester City draw
After eight matches, Wrexham have nine points and are currently just four points adrift of the top six.
A play-off finish is the Dragons’ most likely way of securing promotion this year, with a top-two spot expected to go to a team like Middlesbrough or Coventry City, who are both still unbeaten in 2025/26.
Opta’s supercomputer expects that to be the case as well and has increased Wrexham’s chances of going up this season.
After Derby County, Opta gave Wrexham a 0.44% chance of becoming champions, a 1.44% chance of finishing second, 8.00% chance of winning the play-offs and 20.64% chance of being relegated.
However, at the time of writing, Phil Parkinson’s side are now given a 0.96% chance of winning the league title, 2.34% chance of finishing second, 9.22% chance of securing promotion via the play-offs and their relegation chances have decreased to 17.36%.
Wrexham can make history without Championship promotion
Even if they don’t secure a fourth promotion in a row, Wrexham’s 2025/26 can still be a major success.
Staying in the division would be an achievement in itself, with the ultimate goal to reach the Premier League by 2027 anyway.
But in the current campaign, Wrexham can make club history by securing their highest-ever league finish.
Their previous best finish came all the way back in 1978/79 when they were playing in the old second division.
Wrexham ended that campaign in 15th place, their current league position, so anything higher than that will be a new record.
