Wrexham fans were left confused during their club’s meeting with Groningen on August 2.

The Championship season is now seven days away, with the Red Dragons set to kick off their campaign against the recently-relegated Southampton.

The Welsh outfit have spent much of the summer on a pre-season tour of Australia before returning to the UK.

Wrexham recently played out a behind-closed-doors friendly against rivals Shrewsbury Town and won 3-0.

This weekend, they have travelled to the Netherlands to play two games against FC Groningen.

Wrexham lost 1-0 to Groningen in their first fixture of the day, which was not broadcast live, and fans had problems accessing the second friendly.

Technical error for Wrexham vs Groningen

Wrexham’s clash with Groningen kicked off at 2pm BST and, as per the club’s website, it was supposed to be free for members after they entered a code that should have been sent out via email.

“The match, in Veendam, takes place on Saturday August 2 and kicks off at 2pm (BST). It will be streamed exclusively live at tour.wrexhamafc.co.uk and match passes cost £4.99, but season-ticket holders and members can watch free of charge.

“Supporters will be emailed a code shortly for the fixture, via email.

“All you have to do to access the game for free is log-in (pre-registration is required if you have not previously created an account for streaming), select the match pass and enter your discount code below at check-out.”

However, many fans have taken to social media to point out that they have not been sent the code, and thus had to pay to watch the fixture.

One asked: “Any other members not had a code to watch the game for free today?”

A second replied: I have a code, but the tour.wrexhamafc.co.uk link doesn’t work.”

A third responded: “No email for me. There was an empty field re contact from club under my account details.”

“No code searched everywhere,” tweeted another Wrexham supporter.

Another added: “No code for me either,” while a number of other fans simply responded “No” when asked if they had a code.
