Former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder played down one major concern that Blades fans had about new Wrexham striker Kieffer Moore.

Wrexham have signed Sheffield United striker Kieffer Moore as Phil Parkinson continues to bolster his attacking options.

With less than a week until the 2025/26 Championship season kicks off, Wrexham have significantly added to their troops this summer, bringing in proven quality from the English second-tier.

New arrival Moore, who has also notched brilliant experience with the Welsh national team, certainly fits the package of a player with proven Championship quality – and he will hopefully be able to deliver goals for Wrexham this season.

When it was reported that Wrexham were set to sign the Welsh forward, Sheffield United fans were keen to see Moore leave the club, however, such a concern was downplayed by former Blades boss Chris Wilder.

Chris Wilder thinks Wembley moment should not sum up Kieffer Moore’s spell at Sheffield United

During the 2024/25 Championship campaign, Kieffer Moore bagged five goals for Sheffield United in 27 appearances, 18 of which saw the striker start under Chris Wilder.

Whilst he was unable to set the world alight with his record, they were certainly respectable numbers from the 32-year-old.

Unfortunately, Moore’s time at Sheffield United ended with a horror moment at Wembley in the Championship play-off final as his lacklustre pass led to Tommy Watson scoring the winner for Sunderland.

Nonetheless, former Blades boss Wilder believes that Moore’s campaign was not ‘defined’ by this moment.

When asked about the striker, via The Star, Wilder said: “His performance and his contribution this season shouldn’t be defined by that. None of us should be defined by that. We got 92 points and that gets you up most seasons.”

Kieffer Moore should be given a chance by Wrexham fans

Whilst Kieffer Moore has not been given raving reviews by Sheffield United supporters, the Red Dragons striker should still be handed a chance by Wrexham fans.

The original Wrexham faithful of the Welsh persuasion will already be aware of the quality that Moore possesses, as he has displayed for the national team.

Moore bagged a massively important goal at Euro 2024 in a 1-1 draw against a well-respected Switzerland side, as well as one in the Euro qualifiers against a top Belgium outfit.

The Welshman will be keen to put his Wembley moment behind him, and the Racecourse Ground could be the setting where he gets his career back on track.
