Wrexham are now a Championship club, and the goal for Phil Parkinson’s team in 2025/26 has been set.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac appointed Phil Parkinson as their new manager in 2021 after sacking Dean Keates.
The Red Dragons have enjoyed much success under the former Bradford City boss, most recently winning promotion to the Championship.
Opta’s supercomputer says that Wrexham could be relegated from the second tier in the 2025/26 campaign.
However, one club chief has now outlined that Reynolds and Mac’s plan for this season is more than just trying to avoid the drop.

What Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac want from Phil Parkinson in Championship
In the long term, Reynolds and Mac want to reach the Premier League, preferably by 2027.
That means promotion is not a must for Parkinson and Co. in the current campaign.
But Wrexham CEO Michael Williamson has now shared what the club are looking to achieve in the 2025/26 season in an interview with the Telegraph.
He said the owners have decided “let’s be competitive and see where we end up”, adding that if they can be competitive throughout the season, they could look at making the play-offs.
Williamson continued: “If we can find ourselves in that position towards the back end of the season, I give us a very good shot of being in the play-offs.
“And then, ultimately, if we’re in the play-offs, I give us a very good shot of getting promoted just because of who we are and what we are and the DNA, the resilience, and what it means to this town and for the squad.”

With each promotion, more and more players have been released, sold or loaned out.
We have already seen the likes of Paul Mullin and Steven Fletcher move on this summer.
And in the same interview, Williamson revealed key players have asked what is expected of them in 2025/26.
He explained they need to remain “true to who we are and what we represent,” and if that happens, they will have done their jobs.
