Striker Jay Rodriguez is one of Wrexham’s most high-profile players.

With countless Premier League and Championship appearances under his belt, Rodriguez’s 2025 arrival from Burnley was a statement signing from the Red Dragons.

The former Southampton man has since become a key part of Phil Parkinson’s squad at the Racecourse Ground, contributing to Wrexham’s promotion hunt.

Jay Enrique Rodriguez is currently 35 years old at the time of writing. He was born on July 29, 1989.

Rodriguez is English, having been born in the Lancashire town of Burnley. He is also of Spanish descent through his father and paternal grandparents.

Jay Rodriguez began his senior career at Burnley, enjoying a lot of success with his hometown club. Featuring as either a striker or winger, he would help the Clarets reach the Premier League for the first time in 2010.

After earning himself a place in the Championship PFA Team of the Year in 2012, Rodriguez would be snapped up by Premier League newcomers Southampton. The forward would thrive on the south coast, becoming a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side, even bagging himself an England cap in the process.

Injuries would ultimately derail Rodriguez’s Saints career, and he would end up moving to West Brom in 2017. He would spend two years in the West Midlands before returning home in a move to Burnley.

Rodriguez’s goals would once again help his boyhood club secure promotion to the Premier League, with Vincent Kompany’s side dominating the Championship in 2023.

After falling down the pecking order at Turf Moor, the striker would drop down to League One in January 2025, joining Wrexham.
