Sam Smith has become a fan favourite amongst the Wrexham faithful since arriving at the Racecourse Ground.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds sanctioned the signing of Smith on the January deadline day in 2025.

The striker has since become a key part of Phil Parkinson’s side, providing some much-needed goals for Wrexham’s promotion push.

Born in Manchester, England on the 8th of March 1998, Smith signed his first professional contract with Reading in 2016.

Did Sam Smith play for Manchester United?

Before his days scoring in the EFL, Smith actually plied his trade for Premier League giants Man United.

Growing up in Manchester as a kid, the striker would join the Red Devils academy aged six and would remain there for ten years.

Smith would eventually leave his boyhood club in 2014 in a move to Reading.

Smith would take his first steps into senior football with Reading, going out on a series of loans while contracted to the Royals.

After a successful stint with Cambridge United, the U’s would end up signing Smith permanently in 2021.

Former club Reading would then come calling and sign the striker two years after they first sold him. Smith would enjoy two impressive years at the Madejski Stadium before being snapped up by League One side Wrexham in January 2025, where he still remains today.
