The stars were out at Wrexham’s opening day 3-2 win, including Eva Longoria.

Wrexham started their 2024/25 League One season in perfect fashion as they saw off Wycombe Wanderers in a 3-2 victory at the Racecourse Ground.

The moment of the game came courtesy of striker Jack Marriott, who notably got just his second goal in a Wrexham shirt, which earned praise from co-owner Rob McElhenney.

The left-footed volley courtesy of Marriott also earned him praise from Wrexham fan-favourite Paul Mullin, who praised the former Derby County striker in a post on social media.

There were stars both on and off the pitch in Wrexham’s return to League One, as the star of shows Desperate Housewives and Devious Maids, Eva Longoria, was at the game, and it has now been revealed as to why the Hollywood star was spotted by eagle-eyed supporters who were at the Racecourse Ground.

Why Eva Longoria was at the Racecourse Ground for Wrexham’s game

Both Ryan Reynolds and McElhenney have certainly improved the club off the pitch when it comes to the reputation and publicity side of Wrexham, and they are continuing to do so as a fellow Hollywood star was spotted at the game.

Longoria was spotted amongst Reynolds and McElhenney in the director’s box, with some fans questioning why she was in amongst the board at the game.

However, it has now been revealed, per Rob Ryan Red on X, that both ‘Reynolds and McElhenney invest in Club Necaxa’, and that Longoria is a ‘part-owner’ of.

Does Wrexham’s publicity have any boundaries

It is almost unheard of for a League One side to have such an interest in it, especially from overseas as American fans hotly anticipate every Wrexham game.

Even when the Reds were momentarily stuck in the National League in McElhenney and Reynold’s first season as co-owners, the club’s profile was increasing with serious momentum, and now they are in League One, there are no signs of that slowing down.

Performances on the pitch have certainly fueled the support for Phil Parkinson’s side, however the effort that is put in off the pitch is astonishing and any Wrexham fan five years ago couldn’t have even imagined the club taking off at such an extent.

Momentum is very much at the hands of Wrexham and as support grows across the world, they continue to live up to their lofty expectations and ambitious on the pitch, and if the opening game against Wycombe Wanderers is anything to go off, it could prove to be yet another positive season for the Reds.
