Rob McElhenney was blown away with what he saw at the Stadium MK last night, and it wasn’t the performance as Wrexham shared the spoils with MK Dons.
After recording consecutive victories over Sutton United and Notts County, Phil Parkinson wanted his side to build on those by recording their first-ever win at the Stadium MK.
The Reds took the lead through James McClean’s header but that joy was short-lived as Dan Kemp equalised minutes later.
In the second half, tempers then frayed as Dean Lewington was shown a red card for dissent while Will Boyle’s rash challenge was deemed a second bookable offence as he was given his marching orders.
Parkinson felt Wrexham did enough on the balance of play to win the match, although it wasn’t to be as they were made to settle for a point that kept them in third position.

It was, in fact, the stadium.

MK Dons 30,000 seater stadium for a League Two club is impressive and doesn’t belong at the level they are playing at.
Among the majority of the grounds in the division, Stadium MK stands out like a sore thumb as a modernised institution that wouldn’t look out of place in the Premier League.
Wrexham were playing at the Stadium MK for the very first time last night and Hollywood owner McElhenney was blown away by it.
Taking to X before the match, he wrote:
While McElhenney was fascinated by the stadium, he mentioned about breaking their hearts after losing 5-3 against the Dons at the Racecourse Ground in August.

Wrexham’s introduction to League Two saw them lose 5-3 to MK Dons, starting the season with one win from their first five matches.
Although many predicted the Reds to challenge for promotion, that uncertain start placed doubts on that prospect.
They were soon erased, however, as Parkinson’s men reached top gear and skyrocketed up the table.
Now, they are firmly in the mix for automatic promotion and are three points behind leaders Stockport County with a game in hand.
It’s an incredible improvement from how poorly they started, and Parkinson has to take huge credit.
