One Wrexham player has found himself listed alongside some of the greatest players to ever grace a football pitch this week.

Wrexham have enjoyed a tremendous rise in the last several years, securing a history-making three promotions in a row.

A number of players have been with the Red Dragons for all three promotions after being signed during the early days of the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds era.

Paul Mullin has joined Wigan Athletic this summer after scoring over 100 goals during the Welsh outfit’s meteoric rise.

Ollie Palmer’s future is in doubt after he signed in 2022 but lost his place in the second half of 2024/25.

But one player who has been with the club through all three promotions and is still a key figure is high-scoring midfielder Elliot Lee.

Lee joined Wrexham on a free transfer from Luton Town in the summer of 2022.

He’s since scored 39 goals for the Dragons and finished 2024/25 as their top goalscorer with nine.

During his time at Luton, Lee crossed paths with now Chelsea player, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Now, Dewsbury-Hall has had some high praise for the Wrexham midfielder this week when naming his all-time favourite XI.

Speaking to Chelsea’s media, the ex-Leicester City man said on Lee: “He’s a good mate of mine and he’s doing brilliantly at Wrexham. He’s a very good No.10 – scores goals, works hard and is a great person.

“He’s had three promotions with the same club, from the National League to the Championship. You have to respect that because it is not easy. I loved playing with him and he is a good friend of mine now.”

Lee is certainly something of an odd man out when looking at Dewsbury-Hall’s entire eleven.

Lionel Messi features in the forward line alongside Wayne Rooney and Jamie Vardy.

Wrexham were told to sign Kevin De Bruyne this summer and while that was obviously never going to happen, the Belgian is listed alongside Lee and ex-Manchester United man Paul Scholes in midfield.

The defence is then made up by Ricardo Pereira, Rio Ferdinand, Virgil van Dijk and Kal Naismith, while Iker Casillas takes the goalkeeper spot.
