Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson has opened up with praise for loanee goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo following an excellent start to the season.
Following the shock retirement of Ben Foster, Wrexham were in need of a new number-one goalkeeper.
Although Phil Parkinson originally opted to utilise Mark Howard, eventually Arthur Okonkwo was called upon to start.
Since coming in against Crewe Alexandra, the Arsenal loanee hasn’t looked back and has cemented his place.
With his three clean sheets out of a possible eight, he has endeared himself to the Wrexham fans already.

What has Phil Parkinson said about Arthur Okonkwo?
Given that Okonkwo came in as quite an unknown quantity, he has gone on to impress to the surprise of many fans.
The Englishman has played for Crewe and Sturm Graz in the past while out on loan from Arsenal. He has also never made a senior appearance for the Gunners.
Speaking with Chris Wheatley, Parkinson has opened up about the Reds’ loanee keeper and his start.
On that, the manager said: “We know he has got real potential. He came to us without much football behind him in pre-season but he has fitted in well with the lads.
“He has been an important signing for us so far and I think he is going to get better.”
Ironically, it looked like Okonkwo wasn’t going to be a possible signing for Wrexham following Foster’s retirement.
Discussing that with Leader Live, Parkinson said: “We only had about 10 days until the transfer window closed and Arthur was very high on the list.
“We didn’t think it was going to be possible because he was potentially moving to Europe.”
It is safe to say that the Reds’ manager is delighted with the signing of the Arsenal youngster. He is clearly glad that the deal got over the line.
His form has been great so far this season and fans and his manager alike will be hoping that can continue.
