Wrexham CEO, Humphrey Ker has opened up about scouting and the limitations that the National League had on foreign signings.

It has been admitted by Wrexham CEO, Ker that the club are exploring new avenues when it comes to transfer business.

Since the acquisition of the club by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, every player signed has been from the UK and Ireland.

In spite of this, Phil Parkinson’s side has done well to make signings within limited means.

With that being said, the international clearance rules that affect the National League can make signing foreign players a challenge.

What has Humphrey Ker said?

The Red Dragons’ CEO has been in Sweden and has spoken to newspaper Aftonbladet.

When discussing the National League rules, Ker said: “In the National League, it is almost impossible to sign foreign players. This is because of Brexit, but in League Two and the EFL, it is much easier.”

Despite not having signed any foreign talent as of yet, it is clear that the club are building on this.

Looking at clubs like Brighton, cheaper foreign talent can boost chances of success.

On the scouting, Ker added: “We have just started expanding our scout network. But yes, there is an incredible tradition of Nordic players in English and Welsh football, Swedish players not least.

“We take what we can get. So yes, as time goes on, I hope we will be able to bring in players from all over the world.”

The prospect of bringing in global talents to add to the quality that Parkinson already has available to him. This is very exciting.

With players from all over the world coming to England and making names for themselves, Wrexham could be home soon.

If Ker and Co are as good at signing talent from the UK as they are at signing it from abroad, then success may be coming fast.
