Wrexham fans have been reacting to Sam Dalby as his strike against Burton Albion was voted as the club’s goal of the month for December.
It was a crazy game in the EFL Trophy for Wrexham up against Burton Albion. This was as they went 2-0 down very early on in the evening at The Racecourse.
The first goal went in before a minute was even on the clock, the second went in after just three minutes. This was the worst possible start to round two of the trophy for Phil Parkinson’s men.
On five minutes Sam Dalby caught the eye as the ball fell to him midway into the Burton half. His curling effort from well out felt like it took an age to go in as the goalkeeper watched it as he stood still.
Nevertheless, it dropped into the side netting and cut the away side’s advantage in half in spectacular circumstances.
Sadly for Dalby, the goal didn’t count for anything as the Brewers went on to score again before Jordan Davies scored a late consolation. This saw Wrexham crash out of the EFL Trophy in disappointing circumstances.

Although the game didn’t count for much, the Reds striker has collected a personal accolade for his wonder strike.
Wrexham fans react to Sam Dalby wondergoal
The goal was well deserving of an award and it has now been announced by the club on Twitter that he has won the Goal of the Month. This has now seen fans react on social media to the strike with plenty of positivity.
This fan has summed up the feeling of the majority of fans in six words: “That really was a crazy goal.”
Watching it over and over again, it never gets old. The curling ball from range just doesn’t make sense on first viewing. The distance, speed and type of shot would have you believe that it has no chance of going in. Even the commentators were left in complete shock by the ball nestling in the corner.
This fan described the goal as ‘beautiful’ which is definitely the case. There’s nothing quite like watching a long-range effort find the corner and that was exactly that. Made even better by the goalkeeper being rooted to the spot and left with no chance.
It is a well-deserving goal for this award. Hopefully, it can spur Dalby on to get on the scoresheet on a regular basis.
